Reissue. Repackage. Repackage.

mpls ltd announces two limited edition vinyl only reissues.

Originally released by Fierce Recordings UK in 1992, EEC Punk Rock Mountain (mpls ltd 030) captures six acts live and raw from the legendary British indie label Sarah Records. Featuring live performances from The Orchids, St. Christopher, Gentle Despite, The Wake, The Field Mice, and Heavenly. Commemorating the 15th anniversary of “A Day For Destroying Things,” available for the first time in 18 years and for the first time ever on vinyl. Available online at Dusty Groove and Insound.

Originally released in Belgium in 1969, Claude Lombard (mpls ltd 031) is an amazing obscure space-age gem that is a highly recommended listen for fans of Stereolab, Broadcast, and classic 60s French pop. Available online at Dusty Groove and Insound.

SUMMER OF 7 INCHES

mpls ltd celebrates summer with three brand new 7″ vinyl releases.

First off, First Communion Afterparty have been busy recording their follow-up to 2008’s monster “Sorry For All the Mondays and To Those Who Can’t Sing.” While they make plans for a new album, we are elated to announce the release of the Skyline, Starlight EP (mpls ltd 028). This 7″ vinyl and digital download feature the exclusive new tracks “Time Between” and “Skyline, Starlight” - as well as “Featherhead” from the forthcoming “Earth Heat Sound.”

But wait, there’s more… Meet Minneapolis’ Sun in the Satellite. As the City Pages described them: “The local three-piece sets upon its path like a wandering mystic, seemingly chanting whatever notes it stumbles upon until a new revelation knocks into it, revealing the next card in the rhythmic-drone Rolodex. With a bit of behind-the-scenes wizardry, the layers coalesce to create a complex and alluring desert mirage you’d rather take as reality.” Sun in the Satellite definitely stumbled nicely into their debut 7″/DD The Way (mpls ltd 027).

From here we take a trip to Malmö, Sweden to introduce Mono Stereo. We think there are some big things in their future, and we are delighted to issue their debut 7″ On and On (mpls ltd 029). As The Dumbing of America blog beautifully put it: “While the prospect of great bands coming from there is hardly new, it would seem that 2010 will be the year of the Swedish invasion once again. Mono Stereo aim to be on board for the voyage and will certainly find their way into your heart. Shimmering guitars, throbbing bass lines and vocals that manage to rise above the beauty to add an atmosphere of dreamy bliss.”

In recent months, we’ve released a split 7″ EP from The Starfolk (featuring Brian Tighe and Allison LaBonne of The Owls) and Typsy Panthre (new project from John Crozier which also features Allison LaBonne) entitled the Lemon-Lime EP (mpls ltd 025). We have also released the Миллион Алых Роз 7″ (mpls ltd 022) from one of our favorite UK acts The Projects, which features vocals by Mira Aroyo of Ladytron.

John Roeser Avenue On Manitou Island/In Hot Dog City OUT NOW

A Minnesota native now ensconced in Chicago, JR began playing the murky basements of St. Paul and Minneapolis in the equally murky and loud outfits Powerwagon and Silver Rocket Band. An invitation from his brother Ed of Urge Overkill lured him to Chicago, and he and Ed formed Electric Airlines, playing local and regional shows with the likes of Dinosaur Jr. and Guided by Voices. After an escape to the wild west for a season as a ski bum (and bus driver) JR returned to Chicago to record a 7″ under the name Hot Dog City. JR also joined the bands Fast Product and Big Buildings, this time as a drummer. After a few years of HDC being on the back burner, JR was contacted by an old Minnesota acquaintance who was now running a record label in Minneapolis. To make a long story short, demos were sent, enthusiasm was expressed, a band was assembled, and now John Roeser Avenue “On Manitou Island/In Hot Dog City” is released on vinyl and as a download from mpls ltd. We hope you like it. Available online at Insound, CD Baby, and iTunes.
